E201: Cats in Fiction with Nicole Glover

Today I welcome Nicole Glover to the show to chat about Cats in Fiction. We cover a range of genres, from Gothic to Cozy Fantasy. Nicole’s latest book, THE STARSEEKERS, is a blend of murder mystery, magic, and science - specifically space travel. Naturally, a cat is also at the heart of this story. She was a lovely guest and will also my Patreon Book Club featured author in October with her book THE CONDUCTORS.

  1. I really loved this episode. My wife and I have adopted four cats over the years and still have one that we rescued 17 years ago.

One of my favorite cat series is the Jane Yellowrock Vampire Hunter series. The main character is a shapeshifting Cherokee skinwalker who shares her body with a puma named Beast. And she often shifts into Beast form at night as she battles supernatural baddies.

Also, I recently began publishing a sapphic witchy urban fantasy series set in the Sonoran Desert where I live. I wanted a fantasy series where supernatural creatures and magic are shaped by their environment. One of the main characters (a member of the Sand Witches) is a werepuma named Thalia Wilder. Because there are so many stories about werewolves. Other than the Jane Yellowrock series, I've never come across one with a puma shifter.

Keep up the awesome interviews! I'm currently reading TJ Klune's The House in the Cerulean Sea. As a lesbian and trans woman, I love this book so much.
